Hetty Gleave

Hetty is a Partner at Fladgate LLP and a qualified and experienced mediator, both in relation to commercial and family disputes. She was formerly a Partner at Hunters Law LLP, where she worked for over 20 years. She has mediated complex and sensitive disputes of both a family and a commercial nature, including issues relating to art and cultural property matters.

Hetty’s clients include sovereign governments, academic institutions, individuals and small companies.

Hetty lectures for the Institute of Art & Law on alternative dispute resolution. She has spoken at International Legal Conferences and written various articles on issues relating to the law of cultural property and heritage. She was a member of the Treasure Valuation Committee for ten years, which advises the Secretary of State on the fair market value of declared Treasure finds from England, Wales and Northern Ireland which museums wish to acquire. She was also a member of the Parliamentary Working Group on Human Remains which reported in 2003 on the status of human remains in publicly funded museums and galleries in the United Kingdom.

Hetty is an accredited CEDR mediator for commercial disputes and an accredited Resolution mediator for family disputes. She is a member of the Institute of Art and Law. Hetty is also a guest lecturer on the Art and Business LLM at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies and Queen Mary.

Hetty is recommended as a leading lawyer in art advisory work and as a Power Woman in the CityWealth Leaders’ List 2020. She is also endorsed in the Art and Cultural section of the Legal 500 and is listed as a leader in her field in the Art, Collectables and Auctions sections of both Chambers and Chambers HNW.
